- Live Webinar: The Intersection of Adoption and Addiction, August 23, 2022, 6:00-8:00pm
Relative Caregiver Support
November 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Children in kinship care may have emotional or behavioral issues resulting from separation and grief, multiple placements, difficulty connecting with caregivers and trauma.
The challenges of helping children in kinship care may leave some caregivers feeling frustrated and overwhelmed from: lack of emotional support, understanding the services for a child in one’s care, change in roles, and co-parenting.
Common challenges for kinship caregivers include grieving the loss of the birthparent and wishing the child’s life could go back to “normal”, grief and adjustment related to these changes, shifting roles and responsibilities, embarrassment about the situation, feelings of betrayal to the birth parent, adjusting to child-rearing demands, anger regarding the current situation, and planning for illness and death.
The goal of our group is to strengthen relationships and provide safe, supportive help and education that keeps families emotionally connected to one another.
We offer a safe and supportive resource and education group. We are committed to respecting each individual and family who requests our services and to providing the most comprehensive education and support to promote healthy families.
No registration necessary, simply attend in person or via Zoom. This group will meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month starting March 8, 2022.
