As the numbers of LGBTQ+ households continue to rise, research suggests ongoing bias in both child welfare and the private adoption system. Depending on the community where a family lives, social stigma and discrimination can impact levels of openness and increase stress in the family. In this webinar, we will examine the impact of the legal and societal challenges facing LGBTQ+ families, as well as provide resources that can support them.

Speaking from both personal and professional experience, the trainer will provide practical strategies to increase communicative openness, to support conversations about sexual orientation, gender identity, disclosure, and discrimination.  We will discuss the unique strengths and personal experiences that LGBTQ+ parents bring to their parenting and explore ways to build family pride.
